THE SCENE SHRINE

RAWR! XD the scene style, music, art, and aesthetic has absolutely captivated me for over a decade.
i first discovered emo (from finding bands like mcr, fob, panic and paramore), which led me to finding its more colorful cousin, which seemed much more my style.
i started to discover more music, some cool scene models, and even some cute lil cartoons like pon and zi.
even now that i am an adult, i can appreciate my youthful enjoyment of the style and look back fondly.

  • cute shapes like hearts or lightning bolts
  • dyed hair, including but not limited to, black, bleach blonde, red, multicolor, unnatural colors short, medium, and long styles sometimes teased or spiked to extreme amounts bows, of all shapes, sizes, colors and textures!! sometimes multiple tiaras cute hair clips that involve any other scene elements like skulls, brass knuckles, or hello kitty headbands of different kinds bobby pins or clips directly on the bangs, or used to form a sort of faux bang

    makeup

scene makeup could be very simple or quite complex depending on how crazy you go!!
the base foundation of any scene look includes a good foundation, some thick, black eyeliner, and mascara.
a more complex look might include some neon or multicolored eyeshadow, and possibly a decoration or two, like a small eyeliner heart or a star sticker on your cheek!
you could even go for a more advanced look and add some lipstick into the equation, or decide to keep them concealer white like a classic scene gal.
blush, contour, and highlighter aren't usually staples, but you can add them if you wish! it's up to you cx

    music

music was huge in scene culture
we traded burnt-cd mixtapes to play on our stereos, and later started downloading our fav albums onto our ipod nanos!
the music scene kids listened to was actually a wide range of genres, from electronic inspired crunk, to upbeat bubblegum pop, to harsh br00tal deathcore bands!!
a few notable examples of popular genres and bands included in those genres include....
    GET CRUNK (core)!!!
this genre dominated the early scene with the rise of myspace, with elements from heavy genres of metal and hardcore with pop, dance, and electornica
bands like breathe carolina, brokencyde, dotdotcurve, the medic droid, millionaires, family force five are within this genre
    pop me like a baloon
early scene kids were very keen on several pop artists of their time, as they were much more upbeat than their emo counterparts.
scene kids loved kesha, lady gaga, and nicki minaj, just to name a few
    pop punk, post-hardcore, and beyond
scene kids of the later years enjoyed this type of music heavily these are bands like my chemical romance, fall out boy, paramore, bring me the horizon, a day to remember, and pierce the veil
ooh and pop punk!! how could we forget bands like blink 182, sum 41, good charlotte, and yellowcard??
there are several bands i'd like to mention not knowing how to categorize them, but wanted to include them bc they are important ig!!
nevershoutnever, cobra starship, metro station, the ready set,
i could ramble on about every sinlge niche subgenre we enjoyed as scene kids, but this covers all the major bases
